The Back to School Back Pack Program
is a non-profit public charity incorporated in the state of Georgia. Our charitable organization was created in 2007 by Steve
Kendrick. When Steve Kendrick, general manager of Infiniti of Gwinnett, found out that Gwinnett County would have more than
1,400 homeless children attending school last year, he asked his employees if they could all get behind at effort to provide
these children with something that would give them hope, trust and self esteem for the future. From this, the Infiniti of
Gwinnett Back to School Back Pack Program was launched.
With the help of employees from Infiniti
of Gwinnett and Subaru of Gwinnett, other local dealerships, and citizens within and outside of Gwinnett County, the program
was able to supply more than 1,400 Back Packs and School Supplies to Gwinnett County homeless children in 2007. This program
is in its fourthyear and provides back packs filled with basic school supplies to many of the homeless school children in
Gwinnett County including preschoolers, pre-teens and teenagers. We are committed to those who are really in need and would
welcome a positive action in their lives.
Some
of the organizations that benefited from our first year of donating 1,400 Back Packs are Gwinnett Children's Shelter, DFCS,
IMPACT, Norcross Coop, PADV, the Gwinnett County School Social Services and the Salvation Army.
This year, the company's goal is to provide 1,500 back packs with school supplies and personal care items. By adding
additional back packs, school supplies and personal care items, the budget for the 501(c) charity has increased from $60,000
to more than $75,000.
Like last year, the company will hold a raffle for an inclusive six-night/seven-day
vacation to raise funds. To kick off the charity season we will host a Wine Tasting & Shoe Event and our annual charity golf classic.
